Ajwad: How to be a good Goalkeeper
We’ve been over a half of our SFL 11/12 season with some good news for our Intervarsity squad future as lots of talented youngters emerged throughout the season and showed their qualities.
One of them is YongPeng’s goalkeeper, Ajwad Aziz, who made remarkable performances against SFL’s giant U9, Stardog and Belacan.
Asked about tips to be good in goalkeeping, he gave us a few below:
1. Choose your gear. Its wise nowadays in futsal to wear protective padding as a goalkeeper as quite often a save will require you to dive onto the hard ground. Which makes knee pads, arm pads and some long pants important in a game.
2. Strategy. When playing as a futsal goalkeeper you are required to protect a goal roughly 8ft wide by 6 1/2ft high. When positioning yourself you should always be careful of how much of the goal you are covering or not.
3. Tactics (breakaways). When the opposition performs a breakaway there are 2 main ways to block the shot, the 1st way implies the strikers are running through onto a throughball, when this happens its best to surprise them. A fast full paced sprint to intercept or kick the ball away will surprise your opponent forcing them to shoot if they can. The 2nd way implies a pass direct to the striker leaving it between you and your opponent to battle. With this style its best to be crouched down a little with your ’5 hole closed’ to prevent a shot. its best to come out far enough to be able to block the goal with your feet if a low shot is taken while still being able to watch for a chip and parry/catch it.
4. Penalties. If the opportunity presents itself the opposing team might be awarded a penalty. Penalties are quite intense due to the distance between you and the taker being quite small, never fear! as with most goalkeeping penalty tactics, its best to make yourself as big as possible. Unless you definately know where the shot will be try stay in the center as long as possible as most goalies can touch sided to side without moving much in their goal.
5. Free kicks. Free kicks are quite dangerous as they can be right up quite close to your circle. The advantage of penalties is that free kicks allow your team to have a wall. I find its best to have a 2 person wall with a dead on free kick and a 1 person wall with a side on. The remaining players should position themselves goalside of the attackers to prevent a lay off shot.
6. Corner kicks. Corner kicks can be deadly as a quick fast paced ball into the middle can leave you stranded to make the save. However when positioning yourself its best to take charge. I find its best to be at the front post while being crouched down a little with your foot on the post to prevent a low shot on the post or a diving save to prevent a low cross in the middle. With airborne crosses that require a header shot its best to punch the ball away in mid air before anyone can touch it.
7. Overall game plan. Depending on the rest of your teams capabilities, you can push forward out of your box to take side kicks and in some cases half-field shots. Of course if you do partake in this there is a chance of an intercepted ball enabling a shot on your goal while your halfway up the field.
Hasnol Hails Naqib and Quwe Over Massive Win
Belacan’s hero Hasnol Hafiz praised Quwe and Naqib’s character after their 5-1 win over U9.
Hasnol told our crew; “I believe they scored unfortunately great goals. But it seem that they many times refuse to play with their left foot. If not, we might have 3 or 4 more goals in the game. But they have shown enough character to come back and score great goals”.
And his former teammate Mohamad said he has been impressed with the duo who he believes is now a vital part of the Belacan’s game.
Mohamad said: “Of what I’ve seen from watching their games I think they played well, especially Quwe. He had lots of touches of the ball and he’s been on it consistently.
“So I actually think he’s become really important, I think probably with the not so consistent Azizi and Ansari, he will be the next important player for them.
“He’s kept their continuity and their passing going, we all know he’s a really good player.
Sifut Sedut: The King of Comeback Slam Sindot’s Defence Weakness
Again again and again. Sifut Sedut once again came out of nowhere to grab the three points away from Sindot, IN THEIR STYLE!
Shairy took his tally to 8 goals for the season with his powerful shot twice which proved enough to bring tears to Sindot FC. Both team are highly rated as the title contender at the begining of the season in October. Sindot with their eye-catching star, Ayie and Hazim, are predicted to give a fight competetion to Sifut Sedut. But Sifut Sedut rise from their defeat to the table topper StarDog last week to beat Sindot 3-1 and climb the rank to the 5th place just a point below PARU2.
The 6-men team are now looking for more full points in every game to keep the gap closer in order to finish as the top four. They won only 5 out of 9 games so far. Suffering from two defeats and two draws put them in a quite hard position for the title raceas the leading one hasn’t lose any out of 9 matches.
Sindot started well with some direct attacks on Adeeb who played as goalkeeper in the early of the game while their regular goalkeeper, Dzia, playing upfront. Efforts from the duo, Ayie and Hafizan, playing a little one two and short passes against the superb Shairy managed to put Sindot in front through a clinical finish by Hafizan. Sindot looked strong at the moment but the absence of their stopper, Hazim, do make a different as they found it hard to stop the force of Shairy, Adeeb and Alif Faliq.
Ayad Comeback Help YongPeng’s Massive Win
After a couple of weeks, YongPeng is back on track of winning form through 5-1 massive win against Thanni Thotti. Being on run for four weeks with only one point collected is definitely a disastrous one for any team.
But this week, YongPeng showed an excellent way to win with four different goalscorers. That was awesome.
Last night, YongPeng featured by their full team as their skipper, Asraf Ayad, is back from injury which cause him a two weeks suspension.
“A real team need a reliable lastman who can spread a threat from back to the front and join offensive force when needed. We’ve seen quite names in the league like Shairy, Ganesh, Quwe, Hanif, and also Fitri(DongDong). They all give a massive impact in their team everytime they play. And I do believe that YongPeng lost their gameplay due to injury suffered by Ayad which cost them a lot because he is the key player for the team. But now, they are complete as a team again and here the result. A 5-1 win is a massive one”, said Ashraff Hasnan.
Surely YongPeng can play in absence of their skipper but to show an excellent performance is a real trouble.
The game went on very exciting as they firstly share a 50%-50% ball posession, but the turning point was when Aisar simply tap the ball into net to give a lead fir YongPeng. Their centerman, Shamsul, seemed to be a little exhausted and failed to give his best for team just like he did in the last matches. But in overall, YongPeng was a real something last night. They also got back their sensational striker Nadzrin CR in form as he striked a volley to ensure their win in middle of the very second half. YongPeng has a bright future to finish in top 6 as they will surely keep on collecting points in the next fixtures..
Fantastic Show as Belacan Slam United9 in 5-1 win.
Belacan FC smashed a stunning 5-1 win over the legendary U9 last night. The critics labeled Belacan’s performance as an epic show with loads of outbrain moves. U9 with the best SFL’s playmaker, Suzuan, alongside his fellow teammates who are also undeniable stars gave a fantastic effort as they always do, but Belacan was just too strong for them to beat.
The very first half of the game started with an unbelievable fast play by both side. They firstly attacked each other’s side before Quwe put a strong long range shot into the left lower edge of the goal which was out of Wak’s control at the moment. The spirit raising goalshot which was a quick one right after kick-in has put the same ‘WHAT A GOAL!’ expression in everyone’s face.
Not enough with that, they kept every mouth of the audience opened with a fantastic 3-0 leading by Quwe, Hasnol and Naqib against their opponent as the first half ended.
“U9′s gameplay was no less great during the first half, they played beautifully as usual but Belacan’s one was even more fantastic. Credits should be given to Quwe and Hanif as they were very solid defensive and offensive. Quwe reminds me of our legend, Afi. Its great to have a talented player like him”
, said Kumbang.
The second half started and gave the audience even more exciting game as U9 managed to put the game into 3-1 through Suzuan’s goal. U9′s players realy gave out a huge effort to equalize the impact of Belacan’s energy. They had defended and offended well and looked realy dangerous on the pitch but were undone by pure genius and full chemistry between Ihsan and Quwe.
Belacan, who won their last five matches, had a decent spell and force a few counter attacks to drive away U9′s pace during the game. And again Belacan came with two more goals from Ansari and Naqib which determined to prove that they are still a big name in SFL. They continued to press but Hasnol was unfortunate to see his shot hit the post while Hanif gave away his 4-5 goal chances.
“I would rate Quwe as the man of the match. On the other side, we’ve seen Suzuan played an important role for U9. Hero, Shahrul, and Ravi were great too, they as usual play beauty football and done loads of incredible passes but… Belacan was too fast and were quick in intersepting passes. I would be extremely happy if the acrobatic shot by Suzuan get into the net because it surely be the goal of the season”
– Ammar Ahmad
Belacan FC now share the same points with U9 as they both lost twice and won all the remainings. Critics said that both teams have a bright chance to be on top of the table as both of them no yet play against table topper StarDog FC.
p/s:
Its been a while since our last post. We are sorry for the technical problems we faced in the last two weeks.
Muhamad Arshavin hint for a retirement.
After being out for a week due to nose injury, Muhamad Arshavin hint for a career retirement. He started the game against DongDong last night and played in the major front position as the target man.
But Sifut Sedut struggled to find their gameplay in the very first half of the game. Being lead by DongDong with 2 goals scored by Fitri, they hardly kept the ball in around. Luckily they came out of the blues and turn the game into a win with 4 goals ahead of two by the opponent.
Speaking in the postmatch interview, Mad said that this season is most probably the last of his career. But that would give a hard task for Ammar to find a reliable replacement for the team. Plus Sifut Sedut only consist of 6 players that put them in a situation of only one subtitute player in every match if all members are available to play.
Muhamad started his SFL career with the Belacan FC for the 09/10 season. Playing in center role along with Hasnol and AziZi as a playmaker with the ability of making brilliant passes and controlling the pace of the game. He played a beautiful game feeding his teammates with loads of scoring opportunity. A freekick specialist he is as 4 of his 7goals from the first season is from freekicks. He made himself comfortable as a supersub as he started only 2 games out of 7 in the league and 3 in the cup stage.
His second season with Belacan2 was a hard one, playing as the main powerhouse to the team gave a real hard task in conducting the project team to success. He scored 3 goals in the first 4 games and setting up goals for Nazri with his trademark passes. But a leg injury against YongPeng on the forth game put him through a minor surgery and been adviced not to play up to 3-4 weeks. Somehow, he was featured the last 2 games which they lost one of them to HotDog.
What will be his decision at the end of this season? Will he stay to play for Sifut Sedut or will he call it for retirement?
